About a year ago, Joseph Simon, Cleveland, OH, happened across a fascinating book in the public library. Entitled, The High Blood Pressure Solution, by Dr. Richard Moore, MD, PhD, it explained the importance of the right balance of potassium versus sodium in your diet. It also explained that high blood pressure caused by too much sodium and too little potassium causes strokes and heart attacks, the biggest killer. If you achieve the proper balance, which involves more potassium than sodium, then you do not need to take medicine for high blood pressure. The book also explained how easy it is to consume more potassium than sodium in your diet, simply by eating more fruits and vegetables and cutting down on salt.
Simon was enraged that his doctors had never told him of this. They just prescribed a series of medicines, all of which had undesirable side effects.
The book also stated that in Finland, a new salt, called "pan salt" was created with high potassium and lower sodium. Use of this salt, together with an education program about the importance of the right balance and getting regular exercise, reduced fatalities from strokes and heart attacks by 60% in the whole country.
Simon immediately decided to buy some pan salt. But a Google search did not find any place in America that sold pan salt. He contacted Finland where he found that a new company in Singapore was starting to manufacture a version of pan salt that they called "Good Salt". The owner of that company encouraged Simon to import the salt to the USA.
